The announcements are coming thick and fast now as Disney Springs is starting to take shape. Disney Springs is the renamed, redesigned and revamped Downtown Disney. This Disney entertainment area will feature a new range of entertainment, shopping and dining experiences for visitors to enjoy.
The space will have a early 1900s small Florida town feel and will be divided into four districts – Town Centre and The Landing, will replace the Pleasure Island nightclubs, Marketplace will be an extended World of Disney store and West Side at the Cirque to Soleil and House of Blues end of the complex. The Landing a shopping and dining area on the lake front is scheduled for opening in 2015, with completion of the full project not scheduled until 2016.
Already there have been announcements that Morimoto Asia, with the finest Asian cuisine, from the “Iron Chef” celebrity Masaharu Morimoto, will open in Summer 2015; The Boathouse with it’s nautical theme, will be built largely over the lake and the menu will includes steak, chops, fresh seafood and a raw bar, it will also offer amphicar rides on the lake and even has a saxophone and piano bar in a 40 foot Italian water taxi; Erin McKenna’s Bakery Valentine by the people behind the New BabyCakes NYC will have everything a sweet tooth could want; And as recently as this week news reached us that STK Steakhouse would be joining the party, with a two dining floors, one of them being rooftop, located again at The Landing.
Some big name retailers are also being linked to the project: Oakley, L’Occitane are just some of the names seeking access and an existing favourite Raglan Road Irish Pub may also have something in the pipeline.
Already the first of a number of traffic and parking improvements have been made, with the opening of a 5 story parking garage and 4,000 new parking spaces. These proposed upgrades will make it easier for guests to access Disney Springs.
